| LA
SALA DEL RELITTO DELL'ISOLA DEI CAVOLI
THE ROOM OF THE WRECK
(XV century A.D.)
Through
the analysis of a Spanish ship wrecked by the “Isola
dei Cavoli”, dating back the first
half of the XV century and the big quantity of objects found
in
it,
it
has been possible for the museum to understand the importance
of the traffics that, in that period, involved the trade
courses between Spain and, in this case, the South of Italy.
Among the many objects, the load included
a rich collection of weapons (fragments of lances, swords,
guns), kitchenware
(plates and cups decorated with typical drawings), a mortar,
a jug, nails, a lead weight, a stirrup, a seal for tissues
with the escutcheon of Palm of Majorca, and several tiles
glazed in blue and gold called “azulejos”.
The caskets are provided with explanatory
panels and some giant posters that document the most important
steps of the
recovery.
